Politics in Ebenthal: Elections and Referendum

Political conflicts develop as elections come closer. Referendum results published.

Elections: For the first time in history, the Republican Party has a real chance to hold political office with two candidates running for members of the House of Councilors. The President of the Party, Mr. Alessandro Carvalho Rosas, when asked about his expectations for the elections, he declared that he recognizes his party's inferior position in the national political scene but that in the long term he hopes that the Republican Party can be decisive in forming a new government as the final piece for a coalition and that , in that way, gain prominence and can bring the debate about republicanism to the table. The list of candidates for the House of Councilors has already been released, with 26 candidates, 14 of them for re-election. The party with the highest number of candidates, 10, is the Moderate Party, which recently took over two ministerial portfolios previously held by members of the Workers' Party, the majority party in the house, which political experts say predicts the downfall of this party from power and the re-emergence of the Moderate Party. Asked whether he has a plan to take power, the President of the Moderate Party, the Duke of Sion, neither confirmed nor denied the statement, only answering that "[...] as a politician, I do politics. I will defend my views." The rumor, however, is that months after he allied with the Workers' Party and allowed his rise to power, the Duke of Sion betrayed the Countess of Wittiza, president of the Workers' Party, by attracting members from her party to his party. with promises of positions and launching a number of candidates that make it virtually impossible not to form a Moderate cabinet. The Moderate Party President dismissed the rumor as false and accused the Ministry of Information and Propaganda of creating rumors to damage his relationship with the President of the Workers' Party.
