Elections postponed to October.

Amid the landmark events of early September, the Ebenthal General Elections, previously scheduled to take place on the 7th and 8th of September, will take place on the 12th of October.

After the fall of the Worker's Party cabinet and the election that gave the Moderate Party a majority in parliament on 7 September 2021, with Henri Sãens taking over as Prime Minister, and after a vote on a law to extend parliamentary terms from 6 months to a year, the new Ebenthal general election was set for 7 September 2022.

However, as the date approached, former Prime Minister Gabriela, Duchess of Frumar, proposed a motion to postpone the election to the 8th, given that the election date coincided with the bicenter of Brazil's independence, an important milestone for the Ebenthalis who have Brazilian citizenship and who form the largest national composition in the country. Faced with the presentation of the facts, the members of parliament were compelled to vote in favor of the motion and the elections were postponed to the day following the commemoration of Brazil's independence. The following day, however, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II died in the United Kingdom, and Her Majesty the King of Ebenthal declared 7 days of official mourning.

Faced with this new and sad news and the paralysis of Ebenthali policies until the 15th of September, His Majesty issued a decree postponing the general elections to the 12th of October, the date on which the birthday of Pedro I, Emperor of Brazil is celebrated, maintaining the informal tradition of holding elections on dates of celebration of history and figures related to the Brazilian monarchy, primary inspiration for the Ebenthali monarchy.

The postponement of the elections was greeted with happiness by the Moderate Party and more suspicions of the King's predilection for the Moderates on the part of the Conservative Party, which did not manifest itself.
