Less than two months before the elections, parliament is dissolved by the monarch.

In the midst of the crisis, the government is dismissed and new elections are immediately called.

With no clear government project, unable to deal with the opposition or to ally with it against what they believe to be a "common enemy" and in conflict with the former Nordic Party, renamed as the Swedish Party, the National Party government loses the confidence of the King who, to those who asked where he was during this whole crisis, responded with the dissolution of parliament and the immediate calling of elections. Last night, 20 July 2023, at the end of a special session convened by the Leader of the Opposition, The Most Worthy Duke of Aureaburgh, His Majesty King Arthur II addressed parliament, revealing that he had lost his confidence in the government's ability to manage public affairs and govern the nation and that he would therefore dissolve parliament so that, through new elections, a new, more capable government could be formed. The current Prime Minister, Henri Sãens, remains in power as the caretaker government until elections are held.

According to the Monarch in his speech, the tension between the National Party and the brand new Swedish Party, the absence of a solid government project, and the clear division in the government over the bill presented by the opposition in the session of the 18th of June, made the government's position untenable, unable to proceed in the direction of the nation under the current leadership. Despite asserting that his party would consider the opposition bill that would create quotas for citizens of non-Brazilian origin in public administration, last month the Prime Minister focused on trying to absorb members of the New Democrats and the Republican Party in order to secure a solid majority in parliament, while the Speaker of the House of Councillors, The Most Worty Marquis of Grünhufe, accused the opposition bill of being a facade through which it would not only guarantee political representation to non-Brazilians, but would ensure a coalition that would bring the New Democrats back to power "possibly", the MP said, "under the leadership of Sommerlath", speaking of the Swedish Party Chairman and former Prime Minister, whom he accused of being a brash manipulator. After the Monarch's announcement, the elections were scheduled to be held between the 23rd and 30th of July. It will be the first elections in which the Swedish Party will participate. Despite this situation, the National Party is confident that it will be able to maintain its parliamentary majority and signals for an unprecedented coalition with the New Democrats in case the Swedes fill a substantial number of seats.
